Milk Carton Inspired Nestbox Birdhouse

Straight out of the Jam skunk works, here we have our Milk Carton inspired bird box. Sometimes we have a silly idea that is just too good to pass up.

A truly sustainable product. We’ve been pestering local businesses for their off cuts of ply. These pieces are normally destined to the scrap bin, but ideal for our bird box (normally in exchange for a carton of beer).

The steel we use is recycled from discarded washing machines and dish washers. We trim it and bend it into shape before coating it with tough gloss white paint to ensure it can weather the toughest of climates. The perch is hand machined from solid brass with a knurled finish providing excellent grip for our feathered friends as they survey their surroundings.

The nest box can be easily opened up by removing the 4 wing-nuts. RSPB recommend cleaning out the nestbox every autumn. 

Installation is really simple using either the recessed screw keyhole on the back or simply suspended from a branch using the 2 eyelets in the crest of the roof. A perfect gift for Christmas or a Birthday. 

The nest box is designed to meet RSPB recommendations and is available on request with 4 opening sizes to suit different bird species. The nestbox measures 16cm x 16cm x 20cm.  

It’s a real joy to up-cycle and find great uses for these normally discarded materials. We love this Jam Nestbox and we hope you do too :)
